Spoilers

Well, I just saw the latest gauntet commercial for Monday's ep. I'm shocked that it doesn't appear to reveal much more than what was in the preview last week. It simply shows everyone looking serious about the gauntlet (I believe this is the last elimination) and then goes over a slightly different version of the coverage on Coral and Veronica. No shots of the actual gauntlet. Maybe MTV wants to try to keep the element of surprise this time.

RW/RR Challenge in the Media

It seems that Sarah's Gauntlet run has earned the respect of Bill Simmons, ESPN.com's "The Sports Guy" (from his Jan. 2nd NFL Playoff Pick column):

I can't think of anywhere else to put this, so let's stick it here: Sarah's performance in the "Road Rules/Real World Challenge" is worthy of its own "SportsCentury" episode at this point. The weakest player on either team, she has this Elway-like ability to pull things together in the Gauntlet every week -- she's knocked off five people so far, even though the ungrateful bastards on her own team keep voting her back in. I'm not kidding ... if this were a real sport, we'd be comparing her to MJ and Muhammad Ali. This is amazing stuff.

(And no, I'm not kidding. Last week's show actually gave me goosebumps. OK, maybe I shouldn't have said that out loud ... umm ... hey, how 'bout that Vikings game?)

In addition to his ESPN.com column, Simmons is a writer on Jimmy Kimmel Live. I don't know, but seeing that in the midst of his playoff discussion just cracked my ass up. Maybe I'll give Kimmel another shot now. Actually, no...I won't.

Coral: putting the capital E in E.Ville

Maybe it's just because I deal with litigation, so, in most arguments are presided over by a judge, but I still can't draw any parallels between Coral's personality and the successful attorneys for whom I've worked. I'm not going to say that all lawyers are wonderful, altrusitic people who've been unfairly stereotyped... becuase, well, some of them are whiny, spoiled bullies as String Theory states. (Also, the OJ Simpson trial is not really a good example because that was the epitome of "exception to the rule". Ito had no control over that courtroom and turned it into a freakin' media circus. I have never seen a courtroom run so poorly.)

Ryanne, I worked entirely in corporate law so I see where you were coming from with your point (the two are different beasts). And who would/could disagree with you about the OJ trial being a media circus (complete with clowns and everything). The reason I used the OJ trial as an example was primarily to show how the million-dollar guys (OJ's lawyers) behaved in a lot of ways like Coral and, while that judge let them get away with a rediculous amount of crap, they also brought that crap to the trial (and they'd presumably pulled the same crap in other trials before OJ although they probably didn't do it to the extent that they did in the OJ trial and probably hadn't gotten away with it as easily).

I definately agree with some of the stuff posted about her breaking down when someone challenges her (like when Mike voted her to the gauntlet) and I definately have problems with the fact that at times she is a bully. But I do think that she is strong (and her being a bully and hating to be challenged doesn't necessarily conflict with her being strong overall). She doesn't let people treat her like crap (Sarah, I'm looking at you) and she doesn't have a problem voicing her opinion (RW team I'm looking at you for not challenging her more when you know she's doing/say some dumb shit). But that whole thing with her and Elka was a reeeeal turnoff so I do think she has poor judgement at times too. She should use her powers for good and not evil.

All right, we all know that Osama Beth Laden (tm RW NY's Norm) sucks ass, but it's nice to see someone bring the drama, especially after the snore-fest that was BOTS2.

Word has it that she walks off this challenge (Inferno 2) after a fight with tonya

Anyone else think she'll stick around TI2 due to the other team viewing her as weak?

Romance on RW/RR Challenge: Oooh or Eww?

I became physically ill after reading Norm's recaps citing Veronica and Rachel leaving with Abe and going to the hotel to screw all night. Nothing against Norm of course, but that is not an image I want to see. Klep and Butterface....UGH! UGH UGH UGH! And Abe is seriously a twelve year old. When he battled Miz in the Gauntlet, either his pants were too long or his legs were too short, thus causing him to take on the little kid vibe.

But seriously, much as they may believe otherwise, Klep and Butterface have absolutely no class whatsoever. They are both famewhores and regular whores with absoultely no sex appeal. Having a threesome on national TV is the most classless, lowlife, tacky thing I can think of (and yeah, I'm looking your dirty way too, Trishelle). Butterface has been looking to get into Klep's ass-crack bearing pants for quite a while now, and Klep (familiar with larceny) was all too willing to rob Abe's cradle. C'mon, Klep. We're pushing thirty. Get a real job. And Butterface, excessive self-admiration is better than self-loathing, but you need to find a happy medium.

Julie: The Mormonster Returns

Julie is going to be on Inferno and it seems (from Melissa's glee) that she's going to be bringing the drama and must come out of it barely. I must admit that I'm planning on watching the show if only just to see Coral go medieval on Julie. We know that Coral does not suffer fools gladly, and add to that the fact that Melissa, Coral's best friend, and Julie and mortal enemies ALONG with the fact that Coral is one of the RWers to have allegedly been ripped of by Julie and her mother in a business deal, and we've got one dilly of a catfight.
