Tim Riggins: Rebel without a Cause (or a Fumble)

Let's talk about Tim Riggins, he's drunk in practice, he hates Smash (but not because he's black according to him) and his girlfriend is Tyra Collette.

His position is fullback and he had that wicked block in practice.

I think it was overkill making Tim a fullback. Of the four football characters two are quarterbacks and two are running backs. They should've made Tim a tight end to have a receiver in the main cast as well as completing the Jermey Shockey comparison.

The Music of Friday Night Lights: The Beat of the Marching Band

I'd like to talk a little about the music of this show, specifically the fantastic music selection of the FNL promos.

Remember the Name

Remember the Name is from Fort Minor's debut album; The Rising Tied. It's apparently very popular in sports circles since it's been used in FNL promos, the 2006 NBA playoffs, the 2006 NCAA men's basketball Big East Tournament on ESPN and promos for the movie Gridiron Gang.

I personally love the song and it goes great with the show. My interest went from large to fanatical the first time I saw Remember the Name blaring in that first FNL commercial I saw. Just a perfect blend of music and video editing.

Collide

Collide is from Howie Day's second album, Stop All The World Now. At first I didn't like it much because it seemed a little too teen drama-ey for the show but it really grew on me. It's a nice song that compliments Remember the Name in terms of the different sides of the show. I think it's perfect for Jason and Lyla's relationship.

Fan Campaigns: Help Send FNL Into Overtime

A thread for organizing a mail and e-mail save FNL campaign.

I brooched this idea today in the media thread. Our two ideas currently are
1. An email campaign to NBC with the subject line "Don't mess with Friday Night Lights" and
2. a mail in campaign.

We need a target person at NBC and a date for a mass email.

Our ideas for mail-Footballs, or something to do with a corporate sponsor (Applebees, Toyota, UnderAmour have been mentioned).

Ideas, anyone who has done this before ?
