The friends I watched this with were impressed and said it had a lot of energy. Plus Captain Awesome.

So! This show is ripe with possibilities. That's what I think anyway.

Check ChuckNews at livejournal for fanfiction so far. There are about a gazillion John Casey fics (mostly by ladytalon1), several slashy fics (all with John Casey), and, I think, two Chuck/Sarah fics.

Promos and Previews: Next on CHUCK!

This is the place to discuss promos, previews and descriptions for next week's episode, etc. Just as a heads-up, there maybe a possibility of spoilers in this thread, as there are already promos on YouTube for episodes beyond next week. Not to mention, some people consider titles and promos for next week's episode to be things they want to avoid! Since this isn't a spoiler thread though, tags should probably still be used when discussing promos that have not yet been aired on network TV. Casting info, interviews and all that jazz would go in the Chuck in the Media thread so TWoP MARS doesn't hurt us or break our computers.

Now, on to the good stuff!

Chuck: Episode 1x02

Next On CHUCK:
10/01/07. Episode 2: Chuck Vs. The Helicopter - Chuck comes to grips with his newly adopted life as a spy, tension builds between his appointed partners Sarah Walker & John Casey. When a doctor who seems to have a solution to Chuck’s problem is killed, Casey and Walker turn the blame at one another. Both agents try to convince Chuck that the other one is responsible and now it is up to Chuck to decide which one to trust. Who will he choose?

Sarah Walker: Wienerlicious, but Deadly

I really love the setup for this character. She's Chuck's protector, Casey's equal, and a bit of a mystery. But it depends on where they take her during the season--I hope they never write an episode where Chuck goes on a real date with a random girl, thus causing Sarah to get jealous, etc. I also hope she (and Casey) don't get too caught up in a repeating plotline wherein Chuck has to save himself/them/the day.

Also, Yvonne Strzechowski has a bit of a lisp, and I find that mega adorable.

Relationships: Romantic and otherwise...

Think about it. On one show, we've got a ton of "duos". This show is REALLY big on the duos.

Obviously Chuck and The Spy Chick are one "duo". A combination of action movie buddy/buddy and a very loose romantic pairing.

Chuck and Tom Green Junior, err.. I mean Morgan are another obvious relationship pairing, of another type entirely. Less "buddy/buddy" and more alpha/sidekick (Chuck isn't an alpha figure to anyone else except Morgan).

Chuck and his sister are a third pairing. At least in the first episode you get a real, convincing sense of closeness between the two of them which, in some ways, even excludes Cap'n Awesome and Morgan.

And I think the CIA Chick and Adam Baldwin work as a fourth kind of duo. They hate and distrust each other, but come from the same world. They have history, as antagonists, but have to cooperate on this. It sets them apart, together, from all of the other characters on the show.

I suppose the sister and Cap'n Awesome count as a pairing, but I think its a deliberately shallow relationship portrayal, because the Captain really IS just comic relief.
